Knee Angular Deformities Treatment

A large number of children experience angular deformities of the knees. In many cases, these variations are considered a normal part of the growth pattern of those particular children. Angular deformities of the knees typically have distinct physiology determined by age:

  • Lateral bowing of tibia occurs during the first year
  • The knees and tibia begin to bow in the second year
  • Between the ages of 3-4, the child develops knock knees

Parents are more likely to notice the difference when the child is between 2-3 years of age. The knee condition may correct by the time the child reaches the age of 7-8. If knee angular deformities remain evident beyond the age of 8, an illness may be responsible for the continued deformities.

There are treatments available from Silicon Valley Orthopaedics to address bow-legs and knock-knees. If these issues persist, Dr. Nic Gay or Dr. Masi Reynolds can provide a diagnosis and effective treatment at our California practice.
